RE: 2017- 2018 (SC)2 Teacher Mini-Grants

South Carolina Science Council (SC)2 is Now Accepting

(SC)2 Teacher Mini-Grant Applications for the 2017-2018 School Year

In recent years (SC)2 has suspended teacher grants due to a lack of funding, we are pleased to announce that we will be accepting applications for 2017-2018 (SC)2 Teacher Mini-Grants. In an effort to improve implementation of your grant, we are requesting teachers submit grant proposals by June 30, 2017, and they will be funded prior to the beginning of the next school year. Winners will be notified by August 1, 2017, and will be able to purchase grant materials during the summer to prepare for implementation in the fall of 2017.

(SC)2 will award one $1.000.00 mini-grant for the following grade bands; Kindergarten – 2nd grade, 3rd grade – 5th grade, 6th grade – 8th grade, and 9th grade – 12th grade. Current (SC)2 members as of January 1, 2017, can submit a grant application and cover sheet. Teachers may apply for grants at multiple grade bands (if they teach in those grades), however, only one grant will be awarded per individual teacher. Applicants should include their name and identifying information on the cover page ONLY. Identifying information such as name, school name, district name, city or town name, or anything in the grant application that would indicate their identity, should not be included in the grant application. All applications are read blindly by the grant committee. Please review the grant procedures and expectations carefully. Any submissions not meeting the requirements will not be considered.

Teacher Mini-Grant Winners will be required to make a formal presentation at a future (SC)2 conference and their registration fee for the conference will be waived upon completion of the presentation. The winner will is also be required to submit evidence of implementation including pictures and narrative for our website and newsletter.

Applications are judged anonymously by the grant committee composed of selected members of (SC)2 executive board, advisory board and/or district directors. The panel considers the following factors when evaluating proposals: support of the SC science standards, creativity, benefit to students, degree of student involvement, and efficient use of funds.
